Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to speak at the International Women’s Day Forum hosted by Brunei Fertilizer Industries in partnership with Asia Inc Forum. Held at Serambi Suluh Hall, the event gathered over 200 participants around the theme Accelerate Action: Together We Rise.

I took part in the opening panel titled Men vs Women: The Battle of the Genders – Is Equality Truly Achievable or Are We Destined for Conflict? alongside Dr Harri Kiiski and Dr Rozan Yunos, moderated by Jenny Malai Ali. The discussion touched on tensions and expectations that still shape how gender roles are perceived in both public and private spaces.

What stood out was the honest tone across the forum. Speakers and participants shared challenges and insights from their respective fields. The day-long programme included sessions on allyship, women-led innovation, inclusive leadership, and digital advocacy, bringing together a broad mix of experiences.

My thanks to the organising teams at BFI and Asia Inc Forum for creating a space that encouraged reflection as much as action.
