A Conversation on Sustainable Healthcare with RTB
I recently participated in a TV interview to discuss the critical relationship between climate and health, a connection that is not always readily apparent but becomes clear when we consider how environmental changes directly impact public health. It was a valuable opportunity to share insights on the Ministry of Health’s newly launched ‘Sustainability Initiative’ and the steps being taken to address the health impacts of climate change.
The discussion focused on pressing issues such as heat-related illnesses, respiratory conditions exacerbated by seasonal haze, and the broader implications of climate change on public health. These challenges are becoming more apparent in Brunei, where rising temperatures and increasingly erratic weather patterns, such as storms and prolonged heat, are already affecting the health and well-being of communities.
We also touched on the ‘Climate, Health and Sustainability Taskforce’, which will play a key role in guiding efforts to build a more sustainable and climate-resilient healthcare system in Brunei. The conversation closed with a focus on the shared responsibility we all have in addressing these challenges, with ideas shared on how individuals, communities, and organisations can reduce environmental impact and support sustainable practices. By working together, there’s real potential to create a healthier and more climate-resilient future.
