Equity Initiative Annual Forum 2024 in Hua Hin

Feb 18, 2024

The 2024 annual forum in Hua Hin was a valuable opportunity for reunion, celebration of achievements, and gaining new insights. Reconnecting with fellow EI alumni, we shared our journeys and celebrated our collective achievements, including the recent graduation of the 2023 cohort. It was particularly special to celebrate the graduation of our second Bruneian fellow, Faj, marking a significant milestone in our growing community.

A key takeaway from the forum was the vital importance of self-care and the need to recognise and address inherent biases, crucial for true equity and justice. Climate action was another significant theme. The urgency and importance of environmental sustainability in our work were highlighted, stressing that every sector has a role to play in combating climate change. This topic resonated deeply, especially in the context of the ongoing global environmental challenges.

The Equity Initiative Forum 2024 also dedicated time to celebrate the life and legacy of Chuck Feeney, acknowledging his immense contributions to philanthropy. Feeney, renowned for his ‘giving while living’ philosophy, has been a pivotal figure in the philanthropic world. His approach of making substantial donations within his lifetime, as opposed to creating a traditional endowment, has fundamentally transformed modern philanthropy and influenced a generation of philanthropists and change makers via the Atlantic Fellows program.
