COP28 Dubai: Climate Change and Health in Focus
COP28 in Dubai was a turning point in how healthcare professionals engage with climate change discussions. This year, for the first time highlighted our growing understanding of climate change’s impact on global health systems. The event itself emphasised the importance of integrating health perspectives into broader climate strategies. A particularly significant initiative was the inauguration of Health Day, focusing on health issues within the context of climate policies. Additionally, the conference’s first climate-health ministerial meeting was convened, aimed at developing strategies to mitigate climate change’s impact on health systems and enhance public health in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
Another memorable aspect of attending COP28 was the opportunity to meet many remarkable people and friends, including members of Healthcare Without Harm. These interactions were not only enriching but also highlighted the communal spirit and shared commitment in our global effort against climate change.
