World Sight Day – Health Promotion for Vision Awareness
Thank you everyone in the Brunei Eye Department, the sponsors and all the volunteers for your dedication and teamwork to make this such a fun and successful community event.
For World Sight Day 2018, the Brunei Eye Department organised a mini carnival for this important cause, featuring health promotion, eye screening and games that involved simulation of visual impairment. The event was open to the public and the guest of honour was the Minister of Health, YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.

World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. the theme this year was ‘Eyecare Everywhere’ highlighting the importance of global access and awareness, without boundaries, encompassing all people.
Funds were also raised for local organisations including the Brunei Darussalam Association for the Blind (BDNAB). The event was featured in various local news and media including Borneo Bulletin and Pelita Brunei.
