Preventing blindness in ASEAN and beyond – Rotary Club

A real honour to be invited to speak at the Rotary Club Bandar Seri Begawan. This was for local members and other guests, including students with an interest in medicine and volunteering. The seminar was titled: Preventing Blindness in ASEAN and beyond.
For my presentation, I shared stories, facts and figures on the main causes of blindness worldwide. One of the more powerful statements was that 80% of visual impairment is treatable and doesn’t require high costs. We also had an engaging Q and A session with thoughtful questions about eye care and preventive programmes.
Also an invited speaker, Nor Alizulrainee Ali Yusop shared his experience overcoming the loss of his sight. He shared his many achievements, including a Chevening Scholarship to the UK and various awards for his service and contribution to local organisations and the country.
