The 2023 Equity Initiative Forum and Cohort 5 Graduation

Feb 1, 2023

Feeling grateful and inspired after attending the Equity Initiative‘s 2023 Annual Forum and graduation ceremony in Chiang Rai. Although our cohort was originally scheduled to commence in 2020, it has taken us three long years to reach this moment and graduate as senior fellows of the Equity Initiative and global Atlantic Fellows community. Nonetheless, the incredible community has provided us with a sense of belonging and the opportunity to forge meaningful relationships. The graduation ceremony was a momentous occasion, and it was an incredible feeling to be surrounded by my peers and mentors who have supported me throughout the program. The Equity Initiative’s Annual Forum was a perfect way to cap off our experience, as we were able to network with other leaders in the field and share our experiences and knowledge. The various panels and workshops were both informative and thought-provoking, and they left me with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to advancing health equity in the region.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly meeting Khun Tuenjai Deetes, a remarkable woman who has dedicated her life to fostering inclusive societies that celebrate diversity. As a senator, legislator, and co-founder of the Hill and Development Foundation (HADF), Khun Tuenjai Deetes played an instrumental role in the passage of laws that recognize and protect the basic rights of stateless people and refugees from the Myanmar-Thai conflict zone. It was an absolute honor to meet her and I look forward to encountering more extraordinary individuals like her within this incredible community for years to come.
