All Eyes on Eyecare – Health Promotion in Kuala Beliat

What an amazing initiative by the Health Promotion Centre to engage and empower the elderly community with knowledge and awareness about their own healthcare.
I was honoured to be invited to speak with senior citizens on the importance of maintaining good eyesight as part of a larger health promotion series, held at the Kampong Pandan Library in Kuala Beliat. There was a great atmosphere of engagement and I was so impressed with the level of interest and curiosity of these vital health issues in the community.
The talk, held as part of the Health Promotion Centre’s Elderly Health Programme, had been put on hold since the COVID-19 outbreak in Brunei. However, HPC revived and expand the programme to further engage the public, especially senior citizens. Future programmes will include topics on nutrients, first aid, dementia as well as physical/outdoor activities.
